Introduce Coaching- Speaker Jules Scott
Our FRC speaker will take attendees through the basic framework of a coaching relationship. Building trust and understanding the roles of the members of the relationship is key to the success. Attendees will explore the coach approach, how confidentiality is maintained in the relationship, and the important attributes of a successful coaching relationship. Speaker Jules Scott will share her personal experiences and dig deeper into real-life application.
Listening Skills
Our FRC speaker will introduce the concept of active listening to attendees. Attendees will explore the parts of listening and communication and how it differs within a coaching relationship. The speaker will connect the concept to the coaching models, how they vary, and the key focus of the coach approach. Speaker (to be announced soon!) will share their personal experiences in resiliency and the importance of developing successful communication skills.

Coaching and Other Methodologies
Join our speaker as they take you through the difference between coaching and other methodologies. Attendees experience a typical coaching session while learning about the importance of assessments, self-reflection, and self-management.
Coaching and the Brain
FRC speaker digs deeper into how coaching can assist with neuroplasticity and reframing brain pathways for long-term development. Attendees receive a brief synopsis of the components of the brain and how coaching can assist coaching partners with focusing attention on areas they want to improve and develop.

Day 1 Opening Session
Foundations of Coaching
Participants receive an overview of the course, including reflective inquiry and the goal of a coaching approach, defining life coaching principles, identifying key attributes of effective coaches, and discussing the importance of confidentiality. These foundational skills will foster a supportive environment, enhance leadership capabilities, and ensure that sensitive information shared remains confidential, building trust within the team.
Advanced Listening Techniques
We will cover the parts and approaches to listening, engage in practical listening exercises, understand the listening cycle, highlight differences between coaching and other support methods, and review key distinctions and the coach-client relationship dynamics. Participants will benefit from improved listening skills that allow them to better understand the needs and concerns of their peers, leading to more effective communication and quicker resolution of issues during challenging situations.

Assessments and Tools in Coaching
Participants will be reviewing various coaching assessments, discuss and practice using coaching wheels and constructing "I" statements, and receive links to a variety of free assessments. These tools will help participants identify and address individual stressors and personality dynamics, leading to tailored support strategies that enhance team cohesion and individual well-being.
Brain and Self-Awareness in Coaching
You will engage in practical exercises on "I" statements, explore neuroplasticity in coaching, use the Johari Window model for self-awareness, discuss the importance of support systems, and the role of personal stories in coaching. Participants will gain insights into their own cognitive processes and emotional responses, allowing them to build resilience, reduce burnout, and effectively support their colleagues through shared experiences and understanding.

Putting Coaching to Work- Speaker Arjuna George
During the first session, attendees dig deeper into personal values and identify areas for improvement. Participants complete work together to apply the skills they have learned about to their situations. Speaker Arjuna, provides personal experiences both in the fire service and as a coach that brings the work to life.
Final Session
During the final session, speakers and attendees collaborate to create action steps that attendees can take home. Participants work with creating S.M.A.R.T. goals and working with accountability partners. Speakers include retired and active first responders who offer insight into what they wish they had and how changing cultures can improve overall well-being of first responders.

During the panel discussion, attendees from both tracks will hear from active and retired first responders. Panel attendees share their personal experiences and coaching applications in the various first responder environments. Participants can ask final questions and share feedback.

Beliefs, Values, and Emotional Dynamics
We will be exploring how beliefs and assumptions affect coaching, understand coaching triangles, discuss emotional triggers, align personal values with coaching goals, engage in practical exercises on personal values, and explore different coaching approaches. By understanding and managing their own and others' emotional responses, participants can maintain calm and effectiveness during high-stress incidents, preventing conflicts and promoting a positive team environment.
Reflective Techniques and Practical Coaching
Participants will be introduced to the concepts of reflective inquiry, discuss the use of metaphors in coaching, learn non-reactive empathy, observe emotional shifts, practice creating action steps, improve sensory awareness, and review the ethical code of conduct for coaches. These techniques will enable participants to provide empathetic and focused support, identify and address emotional shifts in real-time, and develop actionable plans that enhance both individual and team performance, all while adhering to ethical standards.
Course Completion Certificate Ceremony
Attend the celebration ceremony where Accelerating Your Growth attendees are awarded their course completion certificate. Based on state rules certificates can qualify for educational credits (attendee responsible for submission based on state rules).
